  • I'm on an https page sending a request to an http page. I've read through the jsonp and https posts and it's still throwing an error when not on localhost, where it works like a charm. One of the stack threads suggested adding a trailing slash to keep the https request as well as adding the empty contact= parameter on the url. Outside of localhost, I get this: The page at https://development.mysite.com/contact displayed insecure content from...

  • Background: I have a self-signed java applet which communicates successfully with A trial web server on my local net using build 1.7.0_21-b11 and FireFox (or Opera) Running on a windows XP (32 bit) virtual machine. The Applet is being used solely as a 'pass through' to transfer encrypted data to and from a special USB TTL232R-3v3 device. All the encryption and database manipulation is performed by PHP , and Javascript is being used to communicate with the server. Like this, I can minimise...

  • Suppose I'm familiar with developing client-side applications in jQuery, but now I'd like to start using AngularJS. Can you describe the paradigm shift that is necessary? Here are a few questions that might help you frame an answer: How do I architect and design client-side web applications differently? What is the biggest difference? What should I stop doing/using; What should I start doing/using instead? Are there any server-side considerations/restrictions? I'm not looking for a...

  • Like the old Albert Einstein said: If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you really don't understand it yourself. Well, I tried to explain JavaScript closures to a 27-year-old friend and completely failed. How would you explain it to someone with a knowledge of the concepts which make up closures (for example, functions, variables and the like), but does not understand closures themselves? I have seen the Scheme example given on Stack Overflow, and it did not help...

  • What is the use of the yield keyword in Python? What does it do? For example, I'm trying to understand this code (**): def node._get_child_candidates(self, distance, min_dist, max_dist): if self._leftchild and distance - max_dist < self._median: yield self._leftchild if self._rightchild and distance + max_dist >= self._median: yield self._rightchild And this is the caller: result, candidates = list(), [self] while candidates: node = candidates.pop() ...

My problem is with the two if statements in the finally block. The second if statement - if(out!=null) - evaluates to true and "out.close()" is executed even though "out" is equal to null. The problem, however, corrects itself when I put the if(out!=null) statement above the if(in!=null) statement. Why is the result changing based on the placement of the if statement?
