  • I'm on an https page sending a request to an http page. I've read through the jsonp and https posts and it's still throwing an error when not on localhost, where it works like a charm. One of the stack threads suggested adding a trailing slash to keep the https request as well as adding the empty contact= parameter on the url. Outside of localhost, I get this: The page at https://development.mysite.com/contact displayed insecure content from...

  • Background: I have a self-signed java applet which communicates successfully with A trial web server on my local net using build 1.7.0_21-b11 and FireFox (or Opera) Running on a windows XP (32 bit) virtual machine. The Applet is being used solely as a 'pass through' to transfer encrypted data to and from a special USB TTL232R-3v3 device. All the encryption and database manipulation is performed by PHP , and Javascript is being used to communicate with the server. Like this, I can minimise...

  • Suppose I'm familiar with developing client-side applications in jQuery, but now I'd like to start using AngularJS. Can you describe the paradigm shift that is necessary? Here are a few questions that might help you frame an answer: How do I architect and design client-side web applications differently? What is the biggest difference? What should I stop doing/using; What should I start doing/using instead? Are there any server-side considerations/restrictions? I'm not looking for a...

  • Like the old Albert Einstein said: If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you really don't understand it yourself. Well, I tried to explain JavaScript closures to a 27-year-old friend and completely failed. How would you explain it to someone with a knowledge of the concepts which make up closures (for example, functions, variables and the like), but does not understand closures themselves? I have seen the Scheme example given on Stack Overflow, and it did not help...

  • JavaScript toggle button only works on second click if display attribute is in header

    By: jegesh

I came across an interesting quirk, and was wondering if anyone could help me understand it. A simple JavaScript-driven toggle button, as below, works beautifully if the display:none of the toggled element is contained in-line. However, when I move the CSS statement to the <style> tag in the header, or to a separate CSS file, it starts to toggle only on the second click, and from then on, it works fine, on a single-click-per-toggle basis. Here's the JS function: <script> ...

  • function to extract key/value pairs?

    By: Unname

string maintaining key/value pairs and keep coming up blank. This seems to me that it would be quite commonly used. What I am doing is trying to pass an array using $_GET. To pass the array, it is rather simple to add it to my get string breaking the array into key, value, key, value, key, value. The problem is reading it back into an array. I've tried explode but that places each key and value as a value in an array. I've tried split and think it might work except it chokes if there...
